How it Works and Complete Types of Computer Printers

Computer Science - A printer is a piece of hardware that is connected to a computer and has the function of printing text, images and other displays from the computer onto paper or similar media. The term known for printer resolution is called dpi (dots per inch). What this means is the number of dots in an area of 1 inch. The higher the resolution, the better the resulting print. On the other hand, if the resolution is low then the print results will be bad/not good.

HISTORY OF COMPUTER PRINTER
Printing techniques were implemented simply in China in the 14th century. Chinese innovation has succeeded in creating ink and block printing which have had a major influence on the writing tradition. However, the development of printing techniques in China was not as great as the developments that occurred in Europe. This is because the Chinese alphabet has thousands of specific ideograms, which are very difficult to implement on a typewriter. As a result, there has been almost no significant change in terms of production efficiency in China as has occurred in Europe.

In the early 1950s, there was very rapid cultural development in Europe which created the need for a fast and cheap written document production process. It was Johannes Guternberg, a German goldsmith and entrepreneur, who succeeded in developing printing machine technology which revolutionized printing techniques. Printing itself was perhaps the most important invention of the last millennium, although its impact on the global economy was not that great. The invention of the printing press allowed the Bible to become the first mass-produced book.

PRINTER IN THE MODERN ERA
From time to time, printer technology continues to develop so inevitably someone who is always in contact with computers and other equipment must continue to follow these developments. Printer in Indonesian means printer (printing tool). The term 'printer' is currently often used to refer to printing equipment connected to a computer.

To connect the printer to the computer, a cable is needed that connects from the printer to the computer's CPU. Currently, printer product brands that are often used include Epson, Hewlett Packard (HP), Canon, Lexmark and many more. To find out more clearly about the functions, types of printers and how printers work, please read the continuation of this article.

FUNCTIONS AND TYPES OF PRINTER
A printer is a piece of hardware that is connected to a computer and has the function of printing text, images and other displays from the computer onto paper or similar media. The term known for printer resolution is called dpi (dots per inch). What this means is the number of dots in an area of 1 inch. The higher the resolution, the better the resulting print. On the other hand, if the resolution is low then the print results will be bad/not good.

Dot-Matrix Printers
Dot-Matrix printers are printers whose print resolution is still very low. Apart from that, when printing, the sound of this type of printer tends to be loud and the quality of printing images is not good because the printed image will look like dots that are connected to each other. Generally, dot-matrix printers only have one color, namely black. However, currently this printer is still widely used because it is known for being 'stubborn' (durable). Another advantage is that dot-matrix printer ribbon is much cheaper than toner (ink) for inkjet and laserjet printers.

InkJet Printers
An inkjet printer is a printing device that uses ink to print and the quality for printing color images is quite good. The speed of printing the number of pages on an inkjet printer is not the same, depending on the type of printer brand. But with inkjet printers, the prints take longer to dry compared to laser printers.

Laser Printers
Some laser printers are similar in shape to photocopiers. The printing power is also quite high, reaching more than 10 sheets per minute. The quality of the laser printer prints is also very good, so it is very similar to the original. Besides prints dry quickly. But the price of this printer is quite expensive.
