- Hordeolum is usually a lump on the eyelid that can be painful. Hordeolum consists of two types, namely external hordeolum and internal hordeolum. Internal hordeolum is a lump on the inside of the calyx.
- Chalazion, a lump that usually appears on the petals due to a dam in the oil glands. It is usually red and painful to the touch.
- Conjunctivitis, depending on the cause, usually the conjunctiva or eye membrane behind the eyelids will form follicles, hypertrophied/enlarged papillaries, cobblestone, or chemosis. All of these lesions can appear as a lump on the conjunctiva.
- Insect bites, etc
To find out the type of lump on the lid, it is recommended that you check with a doctor so that you can do a direct examination of the lump. So that the origin and cause of the lump can be identified. Treatment will vary depending on the type of underlying disease.
Some things you can do at home to reduce symptoms:
- Wash your hands every time you touch the petals.
- Compress the swollen petals with a warm handkerchief or cloth.
- Use a clean cloth or sterile gauze to clean the eyes, avoid reusing tissue or cloth.
- Avoid using cosmetics in the eye area when your eyes hurt.
- Avoid using products such as glasses, towels, soap, etc. to avoid transmission if there is suspicion of infection.
- See a doctor if symptoms do not improve after a few days.
Hope you get well soon and can help.
